Discover the best blockchain games, created by web3 gaming studios and indie developers around the world. Games with blockchain elements come in many different forms, from web-based mini games, to full fletched mobile applications. Blockchain games are also developed for desktop and mac. For consoles such as Playstation 5 or Xbox the gaming industry is still very mature. Google Play (Android) and Apple’s Play Store are opening up more to blockchain games with web3 elements. Right now most mobile games focus on integrating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as in-game rewards. You could see this as play-to-earn (P2E) or play-to-win (P2W) incentives, as NFTs can be transferred to an external wallet. NFTs earned in NFT supported games can be traded on external marketplaces allowing gamers to earn a passive income from playing their favorite blockchain games. Although the term play to earn (P2E) is more commonly found in games who use their own native cryptocurrency token. Where NFT collectibles are digital assets representing ownership of playable characters or items such as skins, cryptocurrency tokens represent a different form of value. You can compare it to V-bucks in the popular Fortnite game. V-bucks are not a cryptocurrency and can not be transferred outside of the Fortnite metaverse game. Cryptocurrency tokens can be transferred to an external wallet where gamers can sell their earnings for dollars or other fiat and crypto currencies. Blockchain games with crypto tokens are also referred to as crypto games. Some games ‘advertise’ themselves as crypto or NFT games, where other blockchain games are being more subtle about these web3 characteristics in their game. Blockchain gaming is in the early stages and GameFi components are often still frowned upon by traditional web3 gamers and game developers.
