Valeria Games (or Valeria: Land Before The War) is a free-to-play mobile trading card game. Set to release on Android and iOS in October/November 2023, The Land Before the War is excitingly close now. Gamers participate in player-vs-player matches to defeat their opponents. Players unfamiliar with web3 only need to submit their email address to create a wallet. This is to ensure their web2 in-game assets can be transferred over to web3 decentralized markets. Valeria Games even takes care of transaction fees, allowing ‘gasless’ minting of these collectible assets for players.
Brief overview of Valeria Gameplay
The Web3 Game did not have a chance yet to try out the full game, so we have to go with what has been shared so far. During PvP battles players go to war using three Valerians (Pokémon like creatures), weapons, items, and in-game Champions to lead the way. Before a match takes off, you get a limited amount of time to assess your opponents cards. From there on you can plan your strategy by carefully selecting the Valerians you think will take you to victory.

Concluding Perspective
Valeria’s gaming ecosystem is gearing up to introduce a plethora of updates, enhancements, and launches, aiming to revolutionize the gaming experience for its community. Each milestone, from beta tests to official launches, underscores the brand’s commitment to delivering quality and innovation. The roadmap not only promises engaging content and gameplay but also suggests that the future of gaming, with interconnected elements and rewarding systems, is on the horizon.
Pick your cards
There is definitely a lot of strategy involved since you need to consider base stats, element types, and levels. For example you can level up your Valerians to evolve them into stronger companions. Whereas element types can increase or decrease the effectiveness of the attacks your Valerian can perform. Other stats include HP, affecting durability. And speed, refilling your energy bar slower or faster depending on the score.
Then there’s a ton of surprises to take into consideration. So called ‘priority moves’, such as potions or barriers, can be strategically used during a battle to interrupt an opponents attack. To get a taste of how this all will look on your screen soon, check out some early gameplay footage.
Valeria Games Building a global brand
The web3 goal behind Valeria Games is to create immersive, enjoyable experiences while leveraging NFTs and tokenomics to give true ownership to gamers. Players can optionally purchase additional booster packs and gems to speed up training and evolution processes. The gaming company is focused on creating a broad ecosystem and IP. Their collaboration with VoyceMe is a strong example of this. Through VoyceMe a manga has been released with 10 chapters, which are all free to read online and in the app’s story mode.
Prior NFT Collections
Two NFT collections have been launched so far, though gamers don’t need these assets to play the mobile game. The first collection consists of 10,000 genesis lands. And the second collection consists of 1,200 so called Champions, which is Valeria’s official pfp collection. These unique Champions will have in-game utility in the Dungeons, though precise details on this are still not confirmed. Champions from this collection can also be ‘flexed’ as your in-game profile picture, which signals to your opponent that you were either very early in Valeria Games as an OG, or paid a heavy price for it. As of right now the floor for Valeria Champions sits around .3 ETH.
The lands on the other hand is how the company managed to raise funds to develop Valeria without any involvement of VCs. Through a public mint Valeria was able to raise over $3mm and has been developing the mobile game for over a year. There is a very active community around Valeria. A lot of NFT collectors are invested for over a year now. And the team has always been giving development updates and art leaks while building in public to keep their community involved. There’s even a fansite already before the game even launched, ValeriaHub!
In-game Champions
Similar to the pfp Champions, there will also be Champions from project partners. These Champions are going to have a greater role in the gameplay itself, especially during the PvP matches. During these matches you need more than just a good set of cards. Champions come in various shapes and forms, each with unique strengths and weaknesses.
Valeria Games collaborated with over 40 NFT projects to integrate some of their IP inside the mobile game in the form of playable characters. Holders of the corresponding projects will be able to mint the Champion representing their community for free, given they install the mobile game on their device.
Investment in Valeria Games
As mentioned, Valeria Games raised funds by minting their Genesis Land NFTs. Gamers don’t need to hold these lands, but they do play a vital role in the ecosystem. The founders always point out that the land owners are basically the VCs of the game. And if actual VCs want to invest in the game, they have to buy the lands from the open market to get tokens. In the next few weeks the $val (subject to change) token will launch, and land owners are the first to get their hands on this new utility token powering the vast majority of the economics in this ecosystem.
First of all 30% of the 400,000,000 total token supply is reserved for land owners. Though the whitepaper currently states a supply of 250,000,000 $VAL, it has been confirmed by the team that the total supply has changed. This change does not affect the percentages given to land owners.
Over a period of two years each land generates 500 $val tokens per month. About 2,5 months ago the team surprised holders by allocating an additional 5% of the total token supply to land owners who stake their lands. We are currently in a ‘chest period’, where lands get 1 chest per week in different rarities. There are common, rare, epic, legendary, and mythical chests which are randomly awarded to lands.
A beta tournament will launch with a $50K price pool for everyone who competes during this trial period. A few days before the beta tournament starts, the token will officially launch. And that is also when the chests can be opened by holders. The value of these $val tokens remains to be seen, as cryptocurrency markets can be highly speculative and unpredictable.
Testing, enhancing, and liftoff!
During the NFT NYC conference a few months ago visitors were also able to play the beta version of the Valeria game on tablets. And in the coming weeks all land owners finally get their chance to try out the game. During this phase all feedback will be collected so final adjustments can be made before the bigger beta tournament launches. Not long after the beta tournament has taken place the game will be available on both Google’s Play Store and Apple’s app store. Especially the Play Store is opening up more to applications with blockchain elements. In collaboration with big global brands in the likes of Reddit their policies are becoming more friendly towards web3. Though, Google is carefully opening up and avoids high risk applications that involves casino’s and similar areas of high risk for unexperienced web2 users dipping their toes in web3.
What other benefits are in store for Valeria genesis NFT land owners? In the pipelines is a system where excess tokens, acquired through in-game transactions such as app store purchases, are being redistribute to staked lands. This way land owners are being rewarded even more if the game manages to gain global traction and attract a large player base.
Valeria Games Booster Packs
Let’s talk booster packs! A big part of the Valeria game are the Valerians, crucial characters to fight your opponents. Think of them as Pokémon, with only 150 of these creatures being released in the first generation. 10 of them will be Legendary. Valerians come with unique statistics and moves or attacks, that can improve while leveling them up. Other in-game assets like weapons and various items can be leveled up too. To learn every in and out of these crucial NFTs, head on over to the Valeria Games Whitepaper. Since mechanisms and gameplay is still subject to change, the content in this article can be different tomorrow than what it is today. And same goes for the whitepaper, which will be updated to reflect the new changes.
Treasury
The team is only taking 10% to 15% of the total token supply, and 5% goes towards special events. Since Valeria Games is building for the long term, 50% of the total token supply is allocated towards the treasury. This will support the expansion and growth of the entire ecosystem. No plans for a specific new game have been announced yet. However the team is aiming to launch more after Valeria has taken over the global rankings in the play stores.
