Zynga is making a grand entrance into the world of gaming with blockchain elements. Their first title Sugartown is the latest very much so anticipated game coming to the web3 space. The creators behind Farmville and many other hyper casual and mobile games are launching Ethereum-based Sugartown before the end of 2023. Sugartown is not solely a game, it’s going to be a platform for gamers around the world.
Through the immersive Sugartown platform, gamers will be able to earn in-game rewards in the form of digital collectibles, also referred to as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Zynga now officially is the first major global mobile game developer studio creating a web3 game of this size to be developed on Ethereum.
Storyline around Sugartown
According to a press release on VentureBeat, the storyline around Sugartown revolves around three farm animals. By accident they open up a wormhole inside Sugartown from another dimension. Through this wormhole, peculiar beings referred to as Ora’s manage to enter Sugartown’s city. Thanks to Ora’s unmatched creativity, they are able to completely transform Sugartown into a vibrant and immersive playground stockpiled with fun and games.
Ora’s in Sugartown
By using your Ethereum based Ora, in more technical terms an ERC-721 token or NFT, you can prove ownership which grants access to enter Sugartown. These Ora’s can be staked to earn in-game energy continuously. The amount of energy a player gains through staking Ora’s in Sugartown determines how many or how often games can be played. This all leads up to earning Sugar through gameplay. What is Sugar in Sugartown? Sugar is the in-game currency used in Sugartown to unlock exciting rewards. These rewards are not yet determined, but are expected to be NFTs.

Allowlist for Sugartown’s Ora mint
For those who want to get in to Sugartown early, there’s a few more hours left to have a chance to get on the allowlist through their post on X. All you have to do is write a reply to this thread on X while using the hashtag #Zynga. An allowlist gives a group of individuals permission to mint their upcoming NFT collection before anyone else gets their hands on it. More details on the digital collectible collections around Sugartown have yet to be revealed. Apart from the Ora lore and the supply of 10,000 Ora’s in their first NFT collection.
At this time owning Ora’s is required to be able to play any mini-games inside the Sugartown platform. Zynga will continue to expand on this new immersive gaming experience and is anticipating to evolve the experience together with their community.
