Crypto Blades is a play-to-earn RPG game. The crux of the game is earning the SKILL token by partaking in raids and competing in fierce combat with enemies. Once you’ve acquired the SKILL token you can now use it to construct special weaponry, upgrade that weaponry, hire extra characters or you even have the choice to stake your SKILL tokens to earn MORE SKILL tokens.
Crypto Blades has been made possible thanks to the award winning developers at Riveted Games LLC. The developers built the RPG game on BNB Chain, with bridge compatibility to 9 different blockchains: SKALE, BNB, OKC, HECO, AVAX, Polygon, Aurora, Coinex and Meter
Completely On-Chain
CryptoBlades distinguishes itself as an on-chain game, setting it apart from conventional centralized games that run on proprietary servers. This unique approach instills an exceptional level of trust, granting players the ability to verify every interaction within its smart contracts. Ensuring an impressive 99.99% uptime through its partnership with Netlify, CryptoBlades guarantees seamless deployment of features and optimal user experience.
The game’s blockchain foundation shields it from potential DDOS attacks, safeguarding marketplace and leaderboard data, while also ensuring the perpetual security of in-game assets. Unlike traditional games relying on external websites, CryptoBlades can be played directly on the blockchain, offering players independence in their gameplay. This innovative on-chain model enables players to track transactions and asset transfers in real-time, fostering transparency and traceability throughout the game’s ecosystem.
SKILL – TOKENOMICS
SKILL is the native in-game currency for CryptoBlades. It can be used to craft weapons and upgrade them and since almost everything in the game are Non-Fungible Tokens(NFTs) they act as your assets. You can use the in-game marketplace to trade them in for more SKILL tokens as well.
With a staggering supply capped to 1,000,000 , the tokenomics are the following:
IDO | 35% |
Gameplay Incentives | 20% |
Initial Liquidity | 15% |
Development | 20% |
Liquid Incentives | 10% |
CryptoBlades’ core revolves around the game contract, crucial for having enough SKILL to pay players when needed. The oracle is the game’s control center, keeping tabs on SKILL’s value with respect to Dollar and helping balance game functions like NFT creation and battle rewards to maintain a steady value.
Uses of the SKILL token
When it comes to using SKILL for minting characters, weapons, and upgrading, CryptoBlades optimizes the following order for a clear spending order:
- In-Game-Only SKILL
- Unclaimed SKILL
- Wallet SKILL
If the required SKILL isn’t available in one pool, CryptoBlades will tap into the next pool on the list to cover the cost. So, the game makes sure to use the SKILL efficiently from these different sources.
In-Game SKILL
The In-Game-Only SKILL is exclusively reserved for crafting weapons and upgrading within CryptoBlades. Just so you know, you can’t use this type of SKILL to buy NFTs from the marketplace.
Minting Characters & Weapons
In CryptoBlades, there are two major types of NFTs: weapons and characters.
Weapons, the first type, play a key role in fights and SKILL earnings for players. When you mint weapons, you’re essentially using up SKILL, and this serves as a significant way to balance the game’s economy, along with the process of reforging. Interestingly, the SKILL you spend on weapon minting doesn’t just vanish into thin air; it goes straight into the contract that’s responsible for giving out rewards after battles.
Now, onto characters – the second type of NFT. These are essential for combat action in CryptoBlades and they even grow in value as you keep conquering fights. Just like with weapons, the SKILL you spend on minting characters doesn’t disappear either; it’s also funneled right into the same contract that dishes out fight rewards. So, whether you’re arming up for battles or recruiting powerful characters, your SKILL isn’t going to waste—it’s all part of the game’s ecosystem.
Upgrading Weapons
In CryptoBlades, you can use SKILL to level up your weapons. This nifty process combines weapons, boosting their stats and value. It’s especially handy if you’ve got a bunch of weapons from mass forging. This way, even lower rarity weapons become valuable, giving them a purpose.
SKILL Shop
The in-game marketplace – SKILL shop, where all sorts of items are available for your hard-earned SKILL. Think functional items or pure cosmetics – it’s all here. And ALSO you might even stumble upon Limited Edition NFTs every now and then. The cool part is that whatever SKILL you spend here isn’t burned but heads right back into the rewards pool. So, it’s a win-win for both your collection and your gameplay!
Acquiring SKILL
There are currently two proven ways to acquire SKILL tokens. One is through combat and the other is trading NFTs in the marketplace. The Team at CryptoBlades promises more ways to acquire skills in the future.
- Fighting
Character and weapon NFTs can actually be utilized in combat. Fighting is an on-chain transaction.
- Trading
You have the opportunity to trade your NFTs on the marketplace in exchange for some SKILL.
Staking SKILL
You can acquire SKILL by staking your SKILL. Sounds fun. Once you’ve staked your tokens, they are to be locked for 7 days. It is also worth mentioning that these lockdown periods do not get refreshed if you add more SKILL tokens.
You can also stake your unclaimed SKILL that you may have previously earned. Although doing that will make you subject to Early withdrawal tax.
Early Withdraw Tax has been added to control players from selling their SKILL like mad-men. The tax starts at 15% and decreases at the rate of 1% per day until its 0.
Price Oracle
The oracle exists so that players can get the same amount of SKILL whether the price of skill decreases or increases in comparison to the dollar.
This means bigger payouts when the price of SKILL decreases, overall giving you the same rewards for your hard work.
The oracle in CryptoBlades maintains a balanced economy by connecting active users to the dollar value of SKILL tokens. This ensures consistent payouts and affordable entry for new players, even as SKILL’s value rises due to increased demand from features and users.
Gameplay
Since all characters, weapons, and enemies are have their own random element, each element has it’s weaknesses and strengths against other elements.
- Fire : Beats Earth ; Loses to Water
- Earth : Beats Lightning ; Loses to Fire
- Lightning : Beats Water ; Loses to Earth
- Water : Beats Fire ; Loses to Lightning
Characters
You can mint your very first character with a random element and a starter weapon. No need to worry about minting a weapon separately. Each character begins with 200 stamina, enough for five battles costing 40 stamina each. Stamina replenishes at a rate of one every five minutes. You’re free to have up to four characters at once, each requiring the same amount of SKILL to mint. When you’re ready to fight, select a character, pick an enemy wisely considering their element and strength, and pay a small BNB gas fee. The game decides the battle’s outcome, rewarding you with SKILL and character experience for a win. Experience levels up your character, boosting their power (max level is 255). You can claim experience at your pace, with a small gas fee for each claim, and it’s automatically applied once approved.
Weapons
In CryptoBlades, weapons are key NFTs that come with random elements and rarities, impacting their attributes and values. You can own unlimited weapons, and they can be used by all your characters, but their attributes can’t be changed.
Weapon Attributes
Weapon attributes refer to various stats present in a weapon, working with character power to decide combat outcomes. Each attribute is linked to an element and a numbered value.
There are 5 tier weapons that you can craft while simultaneously possessing the power of one of the four elements.
Weapon Rarity | Number of Attributes |
1-star, 2-star, 3-star | 1 |
4-star | 2 |
5-star | 3 |
“It has absolutely been considered and even discussed today. 5* swords will always be motha f*ckin 5* swords. Nothing will ever eclipse the almighty 5* in power no matter how many stars it has.”
Phillip Devine, Owner, Riveted Games on June 16th, 2021.
Upgrading Weaponry
Let’s talk about reforging – that’s when you use SKILL tokens to merge one weapon into another. The target weapon gets a nice power boost, while the one you sacrificed disappears. It’s a clever way the game balances things out, plus, reforging or upgrading adds value to those heaps of one to three star weapons that you might end up with while aiming for the four or five star ones.
Combat
Fighting is one of the main ways one can acquire SKILL in this game. Choose your character and weapon and the game will give you 4 randomized options to battle out depending on your skill level. Also keep in mind the assigned elements, if the enemy has an element that outshines yours then the chances to win will decrease by 7.5% and the opposite happens if the elemental affinity is in your favor.
Tip for Team Composition
Creating a character through minting is the most cost-effective route, but the game’s current setup encourages forming teams with a single element. With four characters of the same element, you can make the most of a single powerful sword. If you manage to score a solid 4-star or 5-star sword of a specific element, it’s worth considering gathering four characters of that same element. This way, they can all make the most of that exceptional sword.
